One-shot colors
Like most of the rest of my work, the paintings are assemblages of images and items.
The paintings are the hardest things for me to talk about. The collages, vinyl painting, drawings, even the prints have some logic behind them. There's reason and connectivity behind most of my work in other mediums. The paintings are more personal. Some of them contain wrapped or altered toys I played with as a kid. Others are collections of images from other pieces put together in big. bright paintings.
I don't really know what to say about these pieces, there's no good reason why I made them (and by made I mean take up corners of an apartment for months at a time with paints and brushes as I worked on these) and I don't find them very cohesive.
Why showcase them at all? Because some have sold, others have been painted over and then there's always the temptation to tear down and start over. This way at least I have a record of the pieces.
